The 2005 Parallel Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
2005 Parallel Napa Valley
Philippe Melka, Winemaker Description

In 2005, well drained vineyards, especially from the hills, as our estate vineyards and other vineyards selected to produce Parallel, had a huge advantage by growing smaller berries which translated by greater concentrated flavors. The 2005, a blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, and 1% Petite Verdot, exhibits sophistication and great harmony between acidity, tannins and alcohol. The wine reveals a deep ruby color; the bouquet is complex, gorgeous, full of intense aromatics of, acacia flowers, black currants, truffle, liquor of cassis and red cherry. Lush, supple and round in the attack, the wine carries on with harmony and depth finishing with ripe, soft tannins and aromas of creme de cassis, fresh red fruit and crushed stones and more.....

Wine Review Online - 92 points - Parallel, Napa Valley (California) Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 ($50):
February 12, 2008 Issue
Philippe Melka's Parallel is now in its third release with this finely-tuned 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon.  Melka, one of California's most sought-after winemaking consultants crafted a complex wine with lovely focused black fruit aromas and flavors.  The wine has great texture, layers of fruit and nicely integrated refined tannins.  The blend includes small amounts of Merlot and Petite Verdot and was aged for 19 months of French oak.  This is an elegant seamless wine, finished at 14% alcohol, with subtle oak notes that are present but not obtrusive and a long, textured finish. 92

9 to 9.5 2005 Parallel Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Reported in an article about the San Francisco Family Winemakers tasting. Family Winemakers, for those unfamiliar with the event, is the largest single tasting of California wine in the world, and focuses on family-owned and operated wineries, many of them the sort of boutique, mom-and-pop wineries that are making some of California's best wines http://www.vinography.com/archives/2007/09/californias_best_boutique_wine_1.html
